The Empire Keeshond Club was established in about 1992 and has about 35 members from throughout New York and neighboring states. We have recently received American Kennel Club accreditation which enables the club to hold specialty shows, etc. We welcome anyone who loves Keeshonden, whether as a pet fancier or as an exhibitor in conformation or other performance events.

The purpose of the club is to:

  • Encourage and promote the breeding of quality purebred Keeshonden and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection.

  • Urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the American Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which Keeshonden shall be judged.

  • Do all in its power to protect and advance the interest of the breed by encouraging sportsmanlike competition at show and  obedience trials under the rules of the American Kennel Club.

Anyone who loves the Keeshond breed is invited to join the club. While some of our members breed and show their dogs, others train in obedience, agility or rally, or are involved in breed rescue. Others do not participate in formal dog activities but value their Keeshond as a beloved family member. You do not need to be involved in breeding or showing or even reside in New York state to join.

A membership application is available here, with instructions for joining. Be sure and read the Keeshond Club of America code of ethics on the back, as each member is expected to adhere to them.
